Twenty-five years after it began, The Technocity Group gathered its people on a beach in Ahungalla - not to count revenue, but to count who was still standing there.

The challenge

Twenty-five years in technology is a long time to stay relevant. Markets shift, brands change hands, and the people who built the thing usually move on. Staying relevant is hard. Staying relevant with the same people is rarer.

The Journey
The Journey
On 19 June 2025, The Technocity Group marked its Silver Jubilee at Hotel Riu, Ahungalla. What the night actually honoured wasn't the distribution network or the brand portfolio - it was the people who had been there long enough to remember when none of it existed.
Where It Started
The Technocity Group began as a small Sri Lankan operation with no guarantee of anything. Twenty-five years later it represents global technology brands under one roof and supplies more than 600 channel partners across the island.
The Chairman has always framed the foundation as three things: passion, precision, and partnerships. Not one of them is a strategy document. All three are habits.
How It Was Built;
Distribution is an unglamorous business. It rewards the companies that show up on time, stock the right thing, and answer the phone when something breaks. There is no shortcut and no clever pivot that substitutes for twenty-five years of doing that consistently.
What grew alongside the network was a bench of people. Engineers, sales teams, warehouse staff and administrators who stayed through the lean years and the good ones. On the Jubilee night, Long Service Awards and international tour packages went to the team members who had given a decade or more - recognition of loyalty, not just performance.

What Comes Next
The Silver Jubilee was positioned as a starting line, not a finish. The group's stated direction is expansion into artificial intelligence and smart technology, and growth beyond Sri Lanka into international markets.
The next twenty-five years will look nothing like the last. The people carrying it forward are largely the same ones who carried it here.
